We are seeking a detail-oriented Specialist Physician Services Coder II to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate coding of physician charges, utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, as well as modifiers derived from comprehensive medical record documentation. The ideal candidate will be proficient in navigating various resources to support precise code assignment and possess the skills necessary to resolve coding denials and pre-bill coding edits efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers codes from medical documentation accurately.
- Review and resolve pre-bill edits to maintain coding quality.
- Address and resolve coding denials effectively to ensure optimal billing processes.
- Maintain productivity standards while striving to exceed accuracy rates of 95.5% in monthly internal audits.
- Present coding issues clearly to team members, internal clients, or external clients.
- Deliver information in a concise manner to peers in one-on-one or small group settings.
- Complete assignments before monthly closing dates and meet established deadlines.
- Locate and apply CCI, LCD, NCD, and other applicable coding rules along with client-specific guidelines.
- Continuously improve coding knowledge through ongoing training and staying updated on coding regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding, particularly in evaluation and management coding, radiology, and emergency department coding.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, and modifiers.
- Ability to utilize coding resources effectively and resolve coding denials.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of current coding regulations and guidelines.
