About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join our fully remote engineering team at TeamSnap. In this role, you will be responsible for building and optimizing APIs and services that support millions of daily users and thousands of amateur sports organizations. You will work closely with a talented team of engineers to enhance our platform and ensure a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs and backend services that are scalable and reliable.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while collaborating with team members.
• Lead technical design discussions and guide the team in ambiguous areas of development.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software development.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance existing systems and processes.
• Contribute to code reviews and ensure high code quality across the team.
• Work with cloud-based services, event-driven systems, and caching layers.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of past projects.
• Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, Elixir, Ruby on Rails, or similar technologies.
• Experience with SQL databases and cloud-based services.
• Strong understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage time effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
