Job Description

We are seeking a talented Staff Product Designer to become a key member of our design team at Tailscale. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Network Features team, which is responsible for one of the most technically intricate and strategically vital areas of our product. This includes the mechanisms through which traffic reaches its destination, the segmentation and connectivity of networks, and the methods operators use to manage these functions on a large scale.

Responsibilities

• Design intuitive user experiences that simplify complex network configurations for Admin users, including subnet routing, exit nodes, App Connectors, Services, and DNS settings.
• Conduct user research and gather feedback to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with user needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and marketing, to deliver high-quality design solutions.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to communicate design concepts effectively.
• Iterate on designs based on user testing and feedback, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in product design and user experience.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Product Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and final outcomes.
• Expertise in user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Strong proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively.
• Experience working on technically complex products or systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently in a fully distributed team environment.
