Job Summary

The Principal Engineer operates at the intersection of deep technical execution and broad organizational influence. This critical role will tackle complex architectural challenges, set high standards for AI-native engineering, and ensure that platform decisions are sustainable over time. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will collaborate closely with other Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers, and VPs across our organization.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the architecture of the AI platform, including retrieval infrastructure, model lifecycle management, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails.
• Design and lead the development of GenAI product features, ensuring they are user-friendly and aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee the construction of a shared AI platform layer that supports all AI product features and remains reusable for internal business teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows.
• Implement best practices in MLOps, ensuring that AI features are production-grade and reliable.
• Establish and maintain observability standards to monitor AI performance and user interactions.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or similar role in a software engineering environment, with a focus on AI technologies.
• Deep knowledge of AI architectures, machine learning principles, and model lifecycle management.
• Strong coding skills in relevant programming languages and frameworks.
• Experience with MLOps practices and tools.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for developing innovative AI solutions.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
