Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Ubuntu Security Team to identify, analyze, and mitigate security vulnerabilities across various platforms and environments.
• Implement security best practices and policies that align with the company's objectives while ensuring the integrity of the open source community.
• Develop, test, and deploy security tools and frameworks to enhance the security posture of Ubuntu and its users.
• Conduct security assessments and audits, providing actionable insights to improve security measures.
• Stay updated on the latest security threats, trends, and technologies to proactively defend against emerging risks.
• Participate in incident response activities and assist in maintaining a robust security incident management process.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote security awareness and training.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in cybersecurity, preferably in an engineering role focused on security.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems, particularly Ubuntu, and open source software development practices.
• Strong understanding of security principles, threat modeling, and risk management methodologies.
• Experience with security tools and frameworks such as intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
