Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on obtaining ACCC clearance for mergers, acquisitions, and various commercial transactions.
  • Represent clients in ACCC investigations and enforcement actions related to cartel conduct, misuse of market power, and misleading or deceptive practices.
  • Manage competition and consumer-related litigation, including disputes between competitors, suppliers, and consumers, while pursuing negotiated outcomes outside formal court processes.
  • Counsel clients on transaction structures, marketing strategies, product recalls, and the development and implementation of internal compliance frameworks.
  • Keep abreast of evolving competition and consumer laws and provide proactive advice to clients to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive legal solutions tailored to clients' needs.
  • Participate in business development initiatives to enhance client relationships and expand the firm's presence in the market.

Requirements

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in private practice, particularly in competition law, mergers and acquisitions, or investigations.
  • Strong understanding of Australian competition and consumer legislation, particularly ACCC regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and strategic legal advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal issues and work effectively under pressure.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and building expertise in competition and consumer law.
  • A team-oriented attitude with a collaborative approach to legal practice.
